Introduction to Construction / Construction Skills

The Construction Skills Core Health & Safety Training and competence programme: is designed to encourage, support and provide access for unemployed adults, young people not in education or training (NEET), new entrants, career changers and returners into work, to gain the relevant knowledge, skills, licencing qualifications and sector specific competency cards which will make them work ready, enabling them to pursue a new career through work placements and job opportunities within the Construction industry.

On- going advice and guidance continues from day 6 of the core programme, utilising the on-site work placement as a mechanism for people to use their skills in one area to build upon and move through or across to a variety of career development options within con-struction. This is supported through an enhanced modular training and development ap-proach that is tailored towards the individual, the employer and the sector needs and re-quirements.

The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Construction Contracting Operations qualification provides a nationally recognised qualification for those working in the construction and the built environment sector. CIOB–Level 3 – Site Supervisor

 

The CIOB Level 3 Diploma in Site Supervisory Studies is designed for experienced building craft operatives and other experienced site workers in construction who are currently working in or progressing to a construction site supervisory role. The qualification develops the learner’s knowledge and skills to supervise work on construction projects safely and efficiently. It provides an important route into a supervisory role for experienced building craft operatives and other experienced site workers in construction. The learning outcomes include all the necessary knowledge and skills to assist in supervising a team working on a construction project of any type and size

 

CIOB – Level 4 – Site Management

 

The CIOB Certificate in Construction Site Management level 4 is designed for supervisors and assistant site managers working in the construction sector who are progressing into a construction site manager role. This qualification develops the learner’s knowledge and skills to plan and programme projects, liaise with stakeholders, and oversee small to medium construction projects safely and efficiently.

 

Learners will develop an understanding of the management function of planning and the techniques that are available both off and on site to effectively plan the deployment of the resources needed to complete a project successfully. They will develop an insight into the importance of planning and resource control for the overall construction process. They will gain knowledge and understanding of the techniques used in planning, be able to identify the human and physical resources needed for a typical low-rise domestic or commercial building, produce a simple programme, and explain the associated resourcing, monitoring and controls.
